Derrick Wilkinson... Born on October 1st, 1987 and grew up in Lakeside California where he learned many crazy things which will be carried through with him throughout his whole life. Growing up in such a town of Lakeside taught him many things, how to be crazy and dont hold back and to always live life to the fullest no matter how bad things get. Derrick was always on a constent move and never really stayed in one zip code for a long period of time. Many people might think that would be hard for someone but not Derrick, he looks at it in a good positive way... Meet people in different area codes, find new spots to skate that have never been seen before. Derrick's first skateboard was back in 1998 when his brother danny hook him up with a sick new Skateboard. It was not a nash Skateboard which is what most people start out with but it was a powell with indy trucks and birdhouse wheels. He never really tried to do any tricks on it but he sure did ride it everytime he went to the beach to surf. If Derrick never moved back with his mother he'd prooly be a pro surfer today, you never would of thought by looking at him but it's true. Derrick used to surf and really loved it, as a matter of fact he pretty much failed fith grade because of it. Always diching school in the morning just to catch the perfect wave and never doing his homework after school cause he was out at the beach. And now he never was held back, his parentals passed him into the sixth grade but were very dissapointed in him. I dont think Derrick liked school to much. But that all changed as he moved back home with his mother and began to do just about every sport a kid can do, except Skateboarding. He later moved to Indiana for a year thinking he was going to live there forever. Thats where everything started to come together for Derrick. Met people he never would of thought would be his best friend, Ira Fisk! Ira introduced Derrick into the Skateboarding world just before he moved back home with his dad. But then Derrick moved and took his Skateboard with him as he went on that plane back to California in search of becoming a profesional Skateboarder. He would Skateboard everday after school trying to become someone. Then by mid 11th grade he got him-self into trouble and was kicked out of school for good, well at least Mar Vista high. He then was then put into Independent Study where he started to relize that Skateboarding is just something he loves to do and is just always happy when he is Skateboarding...

 

 

Derrick is the kinda guy that pretty much always has a smile on his face, always wanting people to just be happy. Whenever someone is down and feeling in the blue Derrick is always there to make them feel happy again. We all now Derrick is not physically a KID, but mentally I would say he is deffenently a KID, haha. Not saying he is dumb just that he always thinks positive and always just wanting to be free and live life like it was meant to be lived. So in the END what have we learned from Derrick? He's just one of the nices guy's you'll ever come accross.

 

 

I guess all derrick has to say is just go out there and have fun and do what you want to do and to never let anyone get to them by saying they cant do anything in life or that they'll never amount to anything. Just be your-self and have fun doing it.
